 I know it is meant to be rainy today, but if you are able to, take some time outside and get your body moving using this Outdoor Movement Scavenger Hunt.

Literacy: Log on to RAZ Kids today and spend 15-20 minutes reading.

Numeracy: When you use a Venn Diagram you are comparing two different things. Watch this video for a short lesson on Venn Diagrams, and then give the activity below a try.

* Click on the link to try a Venn Diagram activity: Venn There, Done That
* Alternatively, gather draw two overlapping circles on your notebook (like the circles in the video above.)
            Gather blue items, green items, blue/green items and a few other objects from around your    house and yard.
            Label your Venn Diagram with the headings: BLUE, BOTH, GREEN.
            Place the objects that you have found in the right place on your Venn Diagram.
            If some of your items do not fit in the diagram, place them outside of the circle to the edge of   your paper.

May 19th

I hope you all had a great weekend and were able to spend some time outdoors! If you were able to complete the Tent Building Challenge, please send me a picture to my email or on Remind.
* You should have all received an email or Remind message from me last week asking about whether or not your child will be returning to school part-time on June 1st. If you have had time to think about that, please send me an email or Remind message to let me know your decision. Thank you!

Literacy: In continuing with our outdoor theme, have a listen to this story called "The Hike" written and illustrated by Alison Farrell.

* Think of a place that you love to hike or to explore that is outdoors. When picturing what it looks like, try to use your senses. What do you see in your special place, what are the sounds you hear, what does it smell like, what are some things that you like to touch outdoors and what do they feel like. What taste do you imagine when you are in this place?

* Draw a picture of your favourite place to explore.
* Write about it using your 5 senses descriptions.

Math:
* Spend 10-20 minutes outside exploring. Either in your back yard, front yard, or for a walk with someone in your family. On your walk, gather any leaves or flowers that you find on the ground (don't pick any that are still growing!)
* When you get home, use this pdf (let me know if you would like me to email it to you) or draw this table in your notebook. Count the number of lines on your leaves or flowers and then count the number of leaves on each flower.

Have a great day!

May 14th/15th

STEM: This weekend, I am going to "assign" you a Camping Stem Challenge, attached below. There is no school tomorrow, but perhaps this can be your project for today and tomorrow. If you have not already stopped the school, make sure to stop by before 3:30 today to pick up the materials needed for this project.

Before you begin making your tent with the given supplies, first plan how you can build your tent so that it will hold up to wind, rain, and heat.
1) Complete the planning sheet.
2) Work to create a tent that will hold up to the elements.
3) Test your tent in the elements. Set a fan in front of it, pour a little bit of water on it and see if it holds up.
4) Answer the questions at the bottom of the worksheet.
5) Please, please send me photos of your tents!

Writing: Feel free to have children write this in their notebooks and draw a picture rather than using the PDF.

Math: Again, depending on which Jump Math you are working through at home, give these pages a try today.
    * 2.1 pages 110/111
    * 2.2 pages 17/18
    * 3.1 pages 30/31

Sleep/Meditation: For those of you with children who struggle to fall asleep or who are feeling particularly anxious, the calm blog has some great meditations, music, and sleep stories. Sienna the Sleepy Sloth is a great one, but explore the blog! Sienna the Sleepy Sloth Sleep Story

** In this week's take home package was a lego-challenge calendar, for lego activities each to do each day. Please send me a photo of any you get completed!

Please let me know if you are having any trouble with these pages, or with any concepts whatsoever and we can either arrange a Zoom Call, I can help over email, or I can make some video instructions to email to you.
I hope you all manage to get outside for some fresh air this weekend - it always does the body and mind good!
