April 24th

Literacy: Today we are going to experiment with Shape Poetry, based on the poem "A Giraffe and a Half" by Shel Silverstein. Have a listen to the poem being read aloud below:

Once you have listened, this page was included in the package picked up from the school last week, but if you need a PDF to print at home, let me know and I can send it to you right away.

Art/Music: Our music teacher, Mr.Laws' wife had a baby boy today. I thought we could listen to some quiet music, like we do during silent reading at school and paint with water-colours, or any other kind of paint that you have.

*Listen to the music for a few minutes before you begin to paint, to think about the colors, shapes and lines you want to use, and then begin painting to fill your page with color.

* Let your paper dry for a few hours and then come back to it, and lets use this format below to write a letter to Mr.Laws on top of your painting. You may need to use a pen or marker in order for your color to show up over top of the painting.

Dear Mr.Laws,

Congratulations on ____________________.
Two things you should know about babies are ________________ and _________________.
I hope that you and your wife _________________.

Once you have completed your letter, please take a picture and send it to me at kelly.watson@sd78.bc.ca. If you would like to mail your letter to Mr.Laws, please let me know.

Here is the music to listen to before and during painting:

Math: Spend 15-20 minutes exploring Mathletics or play a Math game on https://www.abcya.com, such as https://www.abcya.com/games/estimating.

Have a great day!
